Project Graduation is an all night celebration for all graduating seniors on graduation night. The idea of Project Graduation is spreading across the nation because statistically the two most deadly nights for teenagers are Prom night and Graduation night. More teens are killed around the time of Prom and Graduation than any other time of the year. Project Graduation has saved lives in every community where it is held. The MHS Project Graduation Committee begins almost one year in advance planning an all night celebration to be held the night of graduation ceremonies. The party is drug, alcohol and tobacco free, well supervised with proper security, ample entertainment, food and celebrations provided in a safe environment to create a lasting memory of high school years and friends. This is the last social event for the entire graduating class to be together. This is a huge event with more than 85% of our seniors attending. The MHS PTSA in conjunction with more than 100 senior and junior parents supply nearly 1,300 hours of volunteer time throughout the year to make this one night a success. The committee relies on various fund raisers and on monetary and prize donations from local businesses, community members, and parents to help raise the more than $60,000 in cash and prizes it takes to fund this event. |
